Hello and welcome to this week’s Admin Wrap!
🎂 We turned 5 yesterday!! Happy birthday to us! And a massive thank you to every one of you who open this newsletter every week.
As a thank you, I’m offering just FIVE of you a 50% off voucher to The Extra Wrap which expires in 24 hours. If you want 50% off forever, you’ll need to be quick! ❤
✨ In The Admin Wrap’s birthday week I launched the second EA Salary Survey alongside Alicia Fairclough from EA How To. You can see how you can take the survey in just a mo.
Also this week I have been reading about elder care in our policies and also how AI is apparently taking all of the entry-level jobs (unlikely).
Phew! It’s been a busy one. I hope you can take a minute for a cuppa and have a read of this week’s newsletter. Thank you for being here!

📢 The EA Salary Survey is BACK for it’s second year!! If you’ve not seen the emails or posts about it yet, this is your sign to pop over to the website and have your say. Last year we had an AMAZING response which allowed us to learn some fascinating things about our profession. You can head over and view those reports as well as taking this year’s survey.
Extra exciting that due to demand, this year we are including Canada, along with USA, UK and Australia. So if you’re in any of those regions, please do take just five minutes to complete the survey. Thank you!For those of you who manage your company’s LinkedIn page, they have just released some information and guidance on video posting. We consume 36% more video content on LinkedIn than we did last year, so if your company is like me and doesn’t like being in the front of the camera, now might be the time to change that!
Does your company have an Elder Care policy? Does your Carers policy cover those who might be caring for elderly relatives, or is it specific to children? Many policies offer something called Dependents Leave which generally will allow for parents to have time off to look after a poorly child. However, with our older relatives living longer and longer, there is a growing demand on people of working age to also be caring for parents and grandparents.
How often do you automatically label something as “good” or “bad”? Apparently, making these snap judgements - which I’m as guilty of as anyone - can make us seem less interesting. Putting things (social media posts, lunch, our boss’s requests) into these limiting buckets narrows our judgement somewhat. An interesting take, I thought
In a worrying report from Ravio, AI is apparently eliminating entry-level jobs. Does anyone else wonder if they remove entry-level roles, then how are younger people going to get any experience? Do you now have to come out of school with 2 years’ work experience? Just because one stat goes up and one goes down, doesn’t mean that one thing is being replaced by the other. There could be other market movements at play here - like the economy!
Does your company ask that you complete 360°reviews? These kinds of reviews can be positive and constructive if handled in the right way. This great article from Leapsome has 57 examples of phrases for strength and weakness feedback that will really help you if you are struggling with how to put your feelings into words.

Microsoft Excel: Our Secret Weapon
If there’s one tool that every seasoned EA should have in their back pocket, it’s Microsoft Excel. It’s been called everything from a spreadsheet to a superpower, and for good reason: it can track, plan, analyse, forecast, and even automate your workflows.
By referring your friends and colleagues to The Admin Wrap, you can earn yourself free access to The Extra Wrap - our in depth thought leadership pieces which are sent out every Monday. Can you make it to the top of the leader board?
💻 TechWrap
Each month we’re going to be deep diving into a software platform or piece of tech that you might use, and we’ll give you a Top Tip each week for it.
For June we are looking at Microsoft Excel (because that’s what you voted for!)
Freeze Panes to Keep Headers Visible
Make scrolling easier by keeping your headers in place. Go to View > Freeze Panes > Freeze Top Row (or selected rows/columns). You can do the same thing if you need to keep the first column too.Add Drop-Down Lists
Make data entry faster and reduce typos. Go to Data > Data Validation > choose “List” and add your options. This is ideal for when you are making graphs and charts too, as it reduces the number of different options you are analysing.
